Slanted (2026), Change is More Hard than Being Yourself

I finding this film is interesting after seeing some scene from reel when I scrolling, and after trying so hard to find the film, turn out this film is bit absurd with the ending that seem like weird in a wrong ways.

Airing on March 13, 2026, sejujurnya nonton film ini bikin kesal sih karena berasa why being Asia or brown skin or small eyes seem that bad in US ? Is that even real, the racist things ?

Joan move into US with her parent when she was a kid.
Being Asia and need to live in America, since she was a kid , dia udah merasakan apa itu diperlakukan different because she is Asia.

Menjadi remaja adalah masa yang paling sulit because we try to search and know who we are. And when Joan too busy to make society accept her, dia bertemu dengan project yang bisa mengubahnya menjadi putih / different person.

“If you can be beat them, beat them !” that is a totally red flag but Joan didnt think too much and decided to change into white skin, which she things gonna make things more easier but turn out that was a beginning of the real problem.

I dont know but maybe because this is a film, as for me, being who I am is the real things and that is also what make me special. Being different !
The story is simple, about Joan who try to be prom queen and change her identity.

Regret always come late, and that is what Joan experience.
Being different person, disappointed her parent and friend, all she get is just a big regret because in the end, she turn to be a monster.

Filmnya simple, but had a lot of moral lesson sih menurutku.
How we treat and see ourself, it is all matter.
