Ghost in the Cell (2026), Another Level of Indonesian Horror

I am very rare to watch my own country film / series, and maybe because this one is made and written by Joko Anwar, finally I decided to give it a try.

Airing on April 16, 2026, the film is kinda not make sense, but I know that my country try their best to make it as horror as it can be, and putting some comedy along the ways.

The main problem in this country is because of corruptions, which we all know that corruptions is really take control in everything, bahkan ketika mereka dipenjarapun, rasanya law and punishment itu gak setara karena fasilitasnya memang luar biasa.

The film start with a journalist that try to make an article tentang kasus korupsi dan berujung dengan matinya atasan penerbit tersebut. The way of their death itu gak make sense sih, meskipun aku tahu film ini berusaha keras bikin dia terlihat horror dan mengerikan ala slasher, tetap saja gak logic.

Until the very end, we didnt know who is the ghost, but we do know that the ghost love art and kill everyone who is mad or had a bad aura as well.
Dimas, the reported that being framed and went into prisoner bring the ghost with him as well.

Ketika one by one the prisoner mulai mati dengan mengerikan, its time to check what is really happen and why. Memasuki unsur comedy inside, dengan cara mati yang gak logic, meskipun weird and boring, still keep watching until the end sih, yang menurutku makin jelang end makin gak jelas.

Overall sih awal film sampai mid itu menyenangkan, after half mulai berasa kalau niatnya malah senggol politik and ketidak-adilan politik di Indonesia but they make it into film and try to make it fun, jadi ada tamengnya klo ada pejabat yang tersinggung.

If you looking for the good film with a reasonable excuses, this film is not for you.
But, if you want to see how brave Joko try to shake the corruptions and bring up the topic ?
This one is the answer.
