It been a very long time that I ever watch a movie in cinema (especially since covid), and this film is the first time I step into cinema again in the night without eating any food first.
Watching a film based on 1946 novel with a same title karya William Lindsay Gresham, this film really make me think a lot to understand the whole story inside.
Starring by Bradley Cooper as Stan, Cate Blanchett as Lilith, and Toni Collette as Zeena. Film yang airing pada December 17, 2021 ini memiliki durasi yang cukup panjang hingga 150 menit.

Dengan durasi sepanjang itu, kita bakalan sadar kalau film ini menceritakan secara detail segala sesuatunya. Stan pergi dari rumahnya dengan serpihan kenangan dimana dia membakar seseorang (later we know that he was Stan dad). dan bergabung dengan group karnaval untuk memulai kehidupan barunya.
When Stan meet Zeena, the one who can create some story. Stan mulai belajar trick menipu orang – orang dengan memainkan karty hantu. Try to reach out other people feeling when they already lost something, Stan become someone that can speak with a ghost. Make other people believe and get paid by that.
Filmnya simple but also teach us that there is always a lot of trick about something in the show. Ketika kamu mulai mempercayai apa yang dikatakan seorang cenayang, you should realize that there is just some drama that they’re create. They make a drama to make you believe and they get money by it.
Money always can change everything and everyone.
When Stan can make a lot of money by his perform, Stan start to forget what he love and create more lies. He start to fake everything until the day when all his drama was nothing. Stan become a wanted man and run away from his life.
Meet a new carnaval and accept to join them as a stranger man who only work for a drink.
So, film ini menarik karena selain kita bisa belajar and have a little sneak peak about the trick that some people use when they do magic, we also can know that our life can be really upside down. When we see someone in the lower place, it doesn’t mean that we can always be better than them. Maybe, when we do something wrong even it just a little, we will end up in that lower place too.
If you love to know about your future, or past or something else. You should watch this film karena kamu bakalan dikasih tahu bagaimana kamu ditipu. Dont waste your money for something that already gone in your life.
