This book is the old one but since this book just got translate and publish in my country September 2021, I buy it really fast and I enjoy every page of it.
The original book from Ruth Ware is published in 2019 and 2 years of waiting ?
Its really pay off after this book in your hand.
I read a translate with total 353 page. I am not regret buying this book because my money feel really worth it.
I never find something like this one because every page is full of suprise. Also, how the writer try to telling us about Rowan story ? It is really great !
As a writer, I must admit that Ruth really create a monster inside monster.
The story was simple but the ending ? OMG ! I kinda like this book because I read all about it and finish this book only in my day 4 ! Can you imagine that ?
Why I say this book is different ?
This book make us become someone outside that read Rowan letter from prison.
When we start the book, we can imagine that Rowan is already in prison. Jadi ini buku agak unik, penulisnya bener – bener bikin kita menjadi pembaca surat Rowan kepada pengacara yang dia ‘harapkan’ bisa menolongnya.
Rowan dipenjara dengan tuduhan membunuh seorang anak kecil. Rowan digambarkan sebagai seorang pengasuh anak dirumah terpencil didaerah Skotlandia. Hingga malam anak itu ditemukan tewas, tidak satupun cerita Rowan yang masuk akal. Didalam penjara, sambil menunggu vonis ‘mati’ yang akan diberikan, Rowan menuliskan surat kepada pengacara and here we are ! The story begin.
Rowan yang membenci pekerjaannya dan memiliki masa lalu yang buruk menemukan sebuah iklan pekerjaan pengasuhan anak dengan gaji yang luar biasa. Plus keistimewaan untuk bisa menginap, Rowan akhirnya melamar kesana dan berusaha sebaik mungkin untuk diterima bekerja. Menjadi berambisi sekaligus ingin mengubah hidup, everything start when Rowan got the job.
Rowan harus menjaga 3 orang anak. Maddie and Ellie, Rhi yang sedikit besar berusia 14th dan seorang balita, Petra.
Bill dan Sandra merupakan pemilik rumah super canggih sekaligus orangtua 4 anak tersebut. Meski Rhi bersekolah diasrama, menjaga 3 anak tentunya sungguh menguras tenaga Rowan yang try really hard to be perfect.
Day by day pass, the day before Rowan get the job, Maddie hug her and saying something that the ghost didn’t like her. But, dibandingkan lari ketakutan, Rowan semakin penasaran dan semakin ingin mendapatkan pekerjaan tersebut.
Everything is fine from the first time but… Something horror start to happen after Bill and Sandra went away from home, leave Rowan with 3 kid in the house.
Awalnya aku merasa bosan karena mikir ini novel bakalan bercerita tentang masion berhantu dengan masa lalu mengerikan. But, every page I spend make me realize that there is something more than ghost. This book telling us the truth and more we read, more we know what is really happen.
Every crazy thing, every time that Rowan spend in the house. Not only that, more we read Rowan letter, more we know who is Rowan ?
Apakah benar namanya adalah Rowan, sipengasuh anak yang sempurna ?
Apakah benar ada hantu dan gadis lain didalam rumah itu ?
Who is gonna die in the end of book and how Rowan save her life ?
If you read carefully, you will know that in the end, the letter is just in prison. Never sending and waiting until 2 years passed and someone find it behind the wall.
Also, another letter that Rowan received in prison, the main reason why Rowan cancel to sending her letter to lawyer ?
Its kinda sad but I know..
I know pretty well..
Rowan is dead and what is really happen inside the house.
I am not gonna telling you all the spoil because this book is really damn great !
You may find the answer, find who is really dead, but you never find what is really happen to Rowan until the end and why she hide the letter inside the wall in prison.
Ruth really make you think and answer all the questions alone.
But, I know…
