Airing pada November 2002 dengan durasi 129 menit. Ini film agak slow jalan ceritanya dan mengunakan sudut pandang orang ketiga sebagai pengantar cerita. LOL

Film ini bercerita tentang kehidupan samurai pada masa mid 19-century. Jadi kehidupan disana masih susah dan tergolong menyedihkan.
Seorang samurai terlilit utang setelah kematian istrinya. Tinggal bersama 2 anaknya yang masih kecil dan juga ibunya yang mengalami dementia, Seibei Iguchi melakukan berbagai pekerjaan sampingan demi bisa menghidupi keluarganya.
Memiliki moral sebagai samurai dan juga tidak ingin membunuh. Seibei terpaksa harus membunuh diakhir cerita karena permintaan dari clannya. Tidak memiliki pilihan untuk menolak karena dirinya akan diusir dari clannya, Seibei menyanggupi permintaan atasannya untuk membunuh penghianat.
Diakhir cerita, we all know that Seibei married with Tomoe. Meskipun kita tidak tahu nasib temannya, Linuma yang diutus untuk menjalankan tugas, we all know that Seibei die in other war.
Tomoe become the mother who raised the kid until they get married.
Ceritanya sih agak membosankan. Plus durasi yang panjang, ini film bikin aku sempat ngutuk aja bawaannya. Terus last fightnya juga biasa aja, jadi kurang berkesan bangat.
Tapi serius dhe, aku penasaran sama 2 other film dari trilogy film ini.
