After we all too focused on horror and criminal series (it was me actually), Now I am gonna changes my watching genre. Russian Doll, airing on February 2019 with total 8 episode is kinda like short series.
Each episode just 24-30 minute and it was fun and also mysterious. Playing by Natasha Lyonne as Nadia. This series is good because the scene just simple and we all will be really easy to know what happen to the main character. Tentunya dengan drama yang sedikit juga.
First episode, welcome to Nadia 36 birthday party ! She was stressed and lose her cat, Oatmeal for 3 day. She then going to sleep with John Reyes, her ex boyfriend and while she went out from home to buy cigarretes, She saw her cat and want to catch Oatmeal. But the car suddenly hit her and ’cause her dead.
Nadia wasnt really dad. I mean we all didnt know what happen, but this series bring the dead to live in the same day. Its kinda like Happy dead day gitu lho. Jadi kamu mati, kamu sadar then kamu ngulangin scene yang sama. Terasa kayak deja-vu gitu but in the end, you just dead.
Bedanya series ini sih, Nadia ini setiap ending matinya, selalu mengawali kehidupannya kembali. Misalnya discene pertama dia mati ditabrak mobil. Nadia hidup lagi terus binggung kan. Nah the next she dead karena terjatuh kedalam danau or laut lah you wanna called it. Then dia tersadar kembali di WC sambil muntahin air gitu. Paham ? So, the scene is start from bathroom ! And that was Nadia 36th birthday party !
Episode 2, Nadia dead multiple time and try to find out what happen to her. She visit her friend and she just send her into hospital. Nadia try to explain but its look like nobody trust her.
So, she decided to enjoy the party while she can because whatever day she dead. She would be back to the night of her birthday.
Series ini memang memiliki cerita yang berulang setiap kali Nadia mati. But if you see closely, the plot was different and everything she choose, will give her a different result too. If she was lucky, she would live for the next day. In the end of episode 2, we all know everytimes Nadia live again, the flower just dead little by little.
Episode 3, Nadia almost bertahan hingga hari kedua but she just dead when she sleep in the road with Horse, the man who is homeless and lose hes shoes. Then Nadia wake up and find her new purpose, she gonna save Horse shoes but sadly, she just dead in elevator !
Episode 4, Nadia meet Alan in elevator and now the two of them meet up ! Alan is kinda like hes life and Nadia try to figure out what happen. Nadia then telling him that she has the party birthday and before Alan dead. Alan try membuang cincin’nya and ketika dia terhidup kembali, cicin tersebut menghilang dari dalam kotak. Begitu juga dengan ikannya. So, the misteri start to be solve itself.
Episode 5, After Alan and Nadia meet, they start to know that they will dead in same time. So, Nadia had a little long dead scene when Ruth shooting her last time and Alan still back to hes problem when Bea cheated on him. Nadia also broke John family. Maybe the nightmare will end when they can fix whatever bad thing in their time ??
Episode 6, Diepisode ini, Alan starting to remember hes first dead ! He threw hes self from the top building. After he do the same dead from the first time, the mirror when they back to life just disappears. I think in this point, they cant dead with the same case ? Hmm…
Episode 7, This episode become the horror one when Nadia must face her past again.
Now we know that little Nadia is just a kid who try to survive and her mom is just crazy !
Nadia start to see her little self and she dying not long after that. And the different is everytimes she dying, people are missing ! Start from the mirror in front of her and now all of her friend are disappears. Its just the same like Alan. So, they both try to fix unfinish thing so they can live normally. Alan let Bea go with Mike and Nadia is trying to make peace with her past.
Last episode is kinda weird. I still didnt see the reason why they keep dead and back to the same place at all. But in this last episode scene, Alan and Nadia had a same night but a different memories. And their job is save each. Nadia trying to save Alan from suicide and Alan trying to help Nadia from car crash !
So, lets rewind for a while if you still didnt understand the series.
The first time Nadia die is because a car crash. She want to chase her cat, Oatmeal. Then she die.
She back to her first place at the bathroom and she die in the same circutanses. She dead when she try to chase Oatmeal.
So, the stories goes bay until the day she meet Alan in elevator and realize that Alan had a same nightmare. They starting to visit each other and they key is Nadia must save Alan for suicide !
Why ? Because in the last episode, we all see that Alan always in the other side and in Nadia episode. Alan is like Oatmeal ! Understand ?
So in the end of episode, everything just changes when Nadia can save Alan life and Alan can save Nadia from car crash. But didnt see at Alan part, it would make you more confused. Just think Alan is like Oatmeal. Nadia try to chase it and dead. Its mean she must save Alan.
What a confused part is in episode 7. Little Nadia show up and make person starting to disappears.
In the mission to stop that, Nadia must making peace with her past, and also Alan, who need to make peace with hes realiton with Beatrice.
After making that peace, both of them just die and Nadia had a horrible dead.
Then they wake up again and everything just back to the first time they die.
Then… They starting to help each other. In different time but all is be the same in the end of episode.
Its not a horror after all.
It just a drama and should I say supernatural things ?
How they connect from each other was still mystery.
What happen to the mirror that disappears is also a mystery.
After all, I do enjoy this 8 episode.
