I like Sandra Oh and because of that, I watch this film but not in cinema.
Bukannya gak menghargai karya artist yang kusuka sih, tapi lebih kepada feeling this film will be the bad film that Sandra ever make. Sudah gak jelas, unsur horrornya gak berasa sama sekali and bisa dikatakan film ini malah aneh.
Airing pada March 18, 2022 lalu dengan durasi 83 menit, film yang mengabungkan bahasa Korea and English satu ini kurang masuk akal. Niatnya mau kasih tahu tradisi leluhur, tapi karena digabungkan secara paksa dengan horror and delusional, this film become really weird.

Amanda, memiliki trauma akan listrik karena Umma, ibunya menyiksa dirinya dengan itu. Jadi scene awal berasa kayak film penyiksaan which we can see that Umma torture Amanda dengan sangat kejam. Terbawa hingga dewasa, 16 year later and her own kid, Chris already grow up but hidup didalam rumah tanpa ponsel dan listrik.
Jadi agak aneh sejak awal when we see Umma mengurung Amanda didalam rumah. How she get pregnant ? Ok, disamping itu, hal yang paling menganjal dihati adalah cerita akan masa lalu dimana Umma yang terpaksa harus pindah dari Korea ke US.
Kalau masa menyiksa Umma terjadi after they are in US, how Umma die can be in Korea and how Amanda uncle get the ash into US ??
How he even find her as well ?
I think at some point, the ash is already in US because Umma was in there, but Amanda run away and live into different home. Is that correct ? Still a big questions.
Long before the ash come, Amanda selalu dibayangi oleh masa kecilnya. Then, tanpa disadari, Amanda also force Chris to be the same as her. Always be with her, no electro, no phone and no college.
Slowly, Amanda just become like Umma.
Another question itu ketika Amanda membuang abu Umma begitu saja. We can see that Umma merasuki diri Amanda but the big questions is, how the ask, the picture back into home and the frame not even broken ? Hmm..
More we watch until the end, more this film doesn’t make sense at all.
Umma spirit can go in peace after Amanda talking with her ? Oh, C’mon !
THIS IS THE WORSE FILM THAT I EVER SEEN and NOT MAKE SENSE AT ALL.
