I plan to watching this in cinema, but turn out I just waiting this one into out and watching it at home.
Not horror at all, and it is kinda slow burn.
This film airing on May 29, 2025 with 104 minute screen time. A24 horror is never disappointed, but I think in some point, they praise this film a lot, when the actually is, this film is feel kinda boring. The hype is high, while the story is in averange.
This film claim that what is inside is not a cult, and the film is also not a horror film. I think its a ritual ? What kind of ritual ? There is no explaination except some video that show us the ritual when people trying to bring someone back using another people.
Eating the flesh, bring her the dead. Serius sih kalau kita wonder sama what kind of ritual it is, this film really not show and telling us until the whole film end. This one is a real slow burn film, its not horror too. Glad that I am not that hype when this film aired.
Piper and Andy is step-sibling. Piper have a sight problem, and Andy not turning 18 yet, which make him cannot become Piper guardian when their dad happen to die in the shower.
The two of them then come to Laura house, the one who losing her daughter when she was only 12.
Everything is seem normal, they meet Laura another foster kid name Ollie, who is not talking and kinda weird.
At the begin, Andy know that Laura doesnt like him, but for the sake of Piper, he try his best to behave until he finally can turn into 18.
Everything seem normal until Andy accidently giving food to Ollie and make him hurt hisself. Want to bring Ollie into hospital, Ollie cross the circle and soon after, Andy can see that Ollie try to asking help from him. Everything start to turn weird from that momment.
Like usual, I am not gonna spoil the whole plot but honest talk, this film is real bored. I like horror and ritual and stuff like that, and I really have a high expectation from this one but turn out, I am kinda disappointed in the end.
A real confusing where the believe like that come from, and also the begin of the film didnt telling us much or not even give us a clue about what the ritual called about.
Overall, if you want to killing time with some extra meaty eaty human flesh film, this one can be a great choices.
But if you have a slow burn horror, I am totally not recommend this one for you.
